A Perfect Getaway-Release Day

Do you like a little horror with your romance? Today is release day and my latest incorporates a few things that do bump in the night. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Hoping to rekindle the sizzle in their marriage, Harmony Evans plans a romantic getaway. A secluded cabin at Juniper Lake resort is the perfect place to seduce his wife and if he can get in a little ghost hunting, even better.

Jade is more than happy to spend the weekend getting reacquainted with Harmony, without the ghosts, but when their cabin appears haunted and the spectral inhabitant shoves their belongings to the door, she figures it’s time to leave.

No one told them Juniper Lake had a sordid past complete with a serial killer and its own host of earthbound spirits. When the other guests begin to die, the best they can hope for is to survive the night. With a sadistic killer on the loose and bodies piling up, romance will take a backseat to murder.

The hairs at the nape of her neck lifted and Jade paused in chopping the stalk of celery for soup. She had the sensation of someone standing behind her. Breath, warm and a little wet, fluttered her hair.

Floorboards creaked and something brushed her shoulder. She gripped the knife handle tighter and whirled, brandishing the blade in front of her.

Her heart raced and she sucked in a breath to steady her rapid pulse. She scanned the room. Nothing was in the area that she could see, but she felt something.

She’d have dismissed her feelings as ridiculous if strange things didn’t keep happening. Like this morning, her bathrobe had been draped at the foot of her bed, but she found the garment hanging neatly in the closet along with her husband’s and he hadn’t placed it there.

She jumped. Someone was in the cabin with her. Her hands shook.

“Harmony?” Maybe he was playing a little trick on her. He knew she didn’t care for his hobby of ghost hunting, which was one reason they were in this little cabin tucked in the woods. The other reason was so they could spend time together. And he was off fishing or chasing a rabbit in the forest, while she was being…haunted.

With knife in hand she checked every room of the cabin, which didn’t take long. The cabin had open architecture, the living room flowed into the dining room and kitchen so she could stand in the living room and look into both rooms. The bedroom door stood open and if she leaned just so she could see into the bathroom. Nothing.

So why did she get the impression that someone was watching her?

She peered out the corner of her eye, hoping to catch a glimpse of what wasn’t there. A flash of light. She whipped her head to the left. Nothing.

Snap. Thud. Fingers swept down the side of her cheek while muted laughter wafted through the air.

“This isn’t funny,” she said to the empty room.

Metal scraped against metal. She hit the light switch, plunging the room in darkness. Jade fastened her gaze on the doorknob and clutched the butcher knife to her chest. She backed away, feeling for the wall with her free hand. If she had to, she could jump out the bathroom window.

A rumble of thunder rolled overhead. And that was another thing, their romantic weekend was turning into a soggy nightmare. She just wanted to go home and leave this place to its spectral inhabitants, if it was indeed haunted.

Wind shook the windows, rattling the glass in the panes. She tensed and bit back a shriek as her back brushed the wall. The fibers of the roughhewn walls grabbed at her shirt in an attempt to hold her in place. Damn Harmony and his quest to find the supernatural. Now would be the perfect time for him to be around to tell her there was no such thing as spooks.

Click clack. Her heart thudded against her ribs so loud she feared it would jump from her chest. This wasn’t the romantic weekend her husband promised her and now he wasn’t even here. Cursing the day Harmony ever brought her to this hellhole, she flexed her fingers.

The door wobbled. She sucked in a breath. Hinges creaked. Her back hit the wall.

Sweat slicked her palms. A shadow fell across the threshold.

She raised the knife.

Flogger, Handcuffs and a Contest…Oh My.

I have great news and want to celebrate but I don’t want to be the only one dancing so I have a give -a-way and the lucky winner will be drawn from comments. The rules are simple and you can read them below. Here’s a picture of the basket and a list of contents.

Now let me tell you why I’m excited.  I have a new release! Yes! The Baker’s Touch is out and available from Sugar and Spice Press, All Romance ebooks and Amazon.

Here’s the blurb:

Valentine’s is always a busy time of year for PB and J Bakery. With love fueling the need for sweet confections, there’s always room for romance. Even the anonymous gifts left for Penelope, by a secret admirer, are a welcome distraction from the chaos of chocolate and spongecake.

Penelope Bishop has an idea who’s sending the gifts, or at least she hopes it’s her sexy mystery man who stole a kiss on New Year’s Eve. The trouble is, she’s never seen him. Her only clues are dancing skills, a great pair of lips, and a sensual voice that haunts her dreams and every waking fantasy. All that pales when her assistant, Avery, inspires those same lustful thoughts.

Avery has loved Penelope from afar, but with her recent breakup, he doubts she’ll view him beyond the current role he has in her life…seeing eye person. He has one chance to woo a woman who defines her world through touch, scent, sound, and taste–think outside the dating box. When an old flame comes courting and makes Penelope an offer she just may accept, Avery has one last opportunity to make her his Valentine…he’ll have to bare all.

Now if you want to read the excerpt…here’s the link.

Now here is the icing on the cake. It’s in paperback. That’s right. I’m in an anthology with Kassanna and Dahlia DeWinters and I’ll say again cause I love the way it rolls of my tongue. It’s in paperback. Now you can catch all three of our intertwining stories in Lovers Revealed.Lovers Revealed

The holidays can be murder. Someone is out to kill Michaela Winters, but she has more important things to worry Winters-Thaw1Sabout, arguing with her husband and when to tell him he’s going to be a father come to mind.

Brockridge Logan realizes the mistake he’s made and he’s willing to make amends. His solution is to whisk her away to their cabin up north where he can seduce and keep her safe.

When an ice storm closes the roads and traps them in the middle of nowhere for the duration of the holidays. A marriage will be mended, but will it be too late with a killer on the loose.

Wind whipped through the icy gloom, threatening to rip away her husband’s dangling form from Michaela’s desperate grip. Beneath her, the aging balcony she lay on shuddered and groaned. Bitter cold from the steel floor seeped into her clothes as if she wore nothing at all. It tilted forward, and a shriek escaped. Frigid cold metal bit into her skin as she was wedged against the railing. Arctic air blowing off the frozen lake, slapped at her face and stung her eyes. She tightened her hold on his jacket. Her back and shoulders burned, straining with effort.

The supports gave another ominous creak and the balcony bounced lower. She clutched handfuls of his clothing, uncaring that her fingers were raw and numb with cold. All that mattered was dragging her husband the few scant millimeters until he could grasp one of the iron spindles.

“Let go.” Quiet command filled his shouted words.

She stared into honey-brown eyes, read acceptance and love. He’d do anything to protect her. Well screw that, she wasn’t letting him go just so she could spend the rest of her life a widow. “Shut up.”

Despite the situation, he chuckled. He reached for the metal bar, his fingertips just grazing the rod. Hope surged. Just a little farther and he could pull up the rest of the way. She renewed her efforts, grunting as she inched backward with her toes. Her arms and shoulders quivered with the effort of holding him, but she held on. Giving up was not an option.

Footsteps pounded in the concrete tunnel behind her. Michaela stiffened and turned her head.  Oh god. She glanced at her husband, then to the gun she’d abandoned earlier. It lay on the ground lodged against cement lip joining the bars to the balcony base just out of reach.

“Someone’s coming.”

“Get out of here.”

“Not without you, Logan.”

The structure lurched forward. Her weapon scraped closer.

The only way to protect them both would be to let him go, at least with one hand. She twisted his clothes tighter in one and reached for her gun with the other.

A shadow fell across the wall. Michaela stretched. Her little finger just touched the butt of her weapon. The clothing went slack in her grip. Heart pounding, she glanced at Logan. He had one hand curled around the metal bar, but he wasn’t out of danger yet.

Black boots appeared in the doorway. She grasped the gun with two fingers then dragged it until the weight rested in her palm, aimed at the newcomer and squeezed the trigger.

Excerpt from Street Safe

Hey there. Thought I’d entertain ya, with a quick snippet from Street Safe. It’s still a little rough, but I hope you enjoy.

Street turned to pour another mug of java and the hairs on the back of his neck stood on end. A warm, spicy floral scent teased and tightened his groin. He inhaled appreciatively. God a woman wearing perfume that provocative had to be just as alluring.
When he faced forward again, he barely stifled a groan. It was her. Full, luscious lips enticed him. Red was definitely her color. God he could just imagine her mouth wrapped around the length of him. His erection throbbed and strained against the crotch of his jeans in anticipation. For once he was thankful for wearing an apron and standing behind the counter.
Those lips curved into a siren’s smile and conjured steamy weekends in bed. He shoved the coffee in Miles’ general direction and ignored his friend’s chuckle.
“May I help you?”
Decadent perfection tilted her head to the side and the tantalizing silkiness of her hair cascaded over a bare shoulder. When he met her eyes, a muddy green, he nearly stopped breathing. Her! Only one woman he knew had hazel eyes. Surely the temptress standing before him wasn’t his very own masseuse? God, he didn’t even recognize her all dressed, with places to go. He drifted his gaze from head to toe. Damn, baby girl should leave her work smock at home. And now he couldn’t remember her name.
“I’m sorry I know you’re busy, but we’re having a little trouble finding our bartender.” Her sultry voice reminded him of satin sheets and candlelight. If she wanted to haunt his fantasies, then he would definitely make them a reality. What did he have to do to get her in bed?
“I’m the bartender.”
She arched a perfectly shaped brow. “For the bachelorette party?” She glanced around. “You seem pretty busy right here.”
He grinned. “I’ll get the first round started and then I’ll be at your beck and call. I’m Street by the way.”
She lowered her lashes before meeting his gaze. “I know, although I always preferred Rue. Have you been avoiding me?”
Stunned, he stepped back. Yeah, in a way he had. His last few visits he’d requested another massage therapist, one who didn’t arouse. And she was the only one he allowed to call him by his hated given name. Something about the his name rolled off her tongue made him want to hear her say it in an darkened room while she was naked. Damn. All these fantasies and he still couldn’t recall her name. It started with an ‘N’ and it wasn’t common “Really? Well I didn’t think you’d notice. How do you say your name, again?”
“Beautiful name.”
She inclined her head, but not before he’d seen her pretty pout. His smooth recovery wasn’t smooth enough.
“I think a bunch of fruity drinks will suit them just fine. I’ll have a cranberry juice.” She rested her fingertips on the counter, her nails, painted in the same stunning red as her lipstick, were just the perfect length. He could already imagine the way they’d feel scraping along the muscles of his back.
It was his turn to raise an eyebrow. “Nothing stronger?”
“Designated driver. Thanks.” She pushed off the bar and sashayed away.
Damn, baby girl had a body on her.
“A bib would keep your shirt from getting wet,” Auggie said.
Street closed his mouth. “Whatever.”
“The woman’s been stroking your leg for months and you forget her name?” Auggie shook his head. “Real smooth, nephew. Real smooth.”
“Ain’t it time for you to go home to your girlfriend?”
He shrugged. “Ask her. She’s sitting over in the corner with a group of her friends.”
Street swung his gaze to the far corner of the room. Sure enough Na’arah was headed toward them. She stood just in front of younger woman with a sequined gold top.
“I guess I will.”

Lust and Bound

This is release for me and I’m having a blast. Over the next month I have a variety of posts and whatnot to share with you. Hopefully they will keep you entertained. In the meantime here’s a bit about Lust & Bound.

Trisha, a recent divorcee, wants to explore the wilder side of sex and discover a more sensuous part of herself. When long-time client Zach Walters suggests a weekend together, she agrees. He provides her with an unforgettable night of hot, sweaty sex, while unbeknownst to either of them the tryst is being recorded.
No woman has ever excited Zach Walters like Trisha. He’s willing to indulge his fantasies as well as hers, but he can’t afford to get too close. He has a weakness for damsels in distress and a secret to protect. Only one thing threatens their happiness—a vengeful ex-husband.

Trisha scrambled backwards. If he touched her now, she wouldn’t get a chance to find out.

“See what?” He loosened his tie.

“Your tattoo.”

He chuckled. “Is that all?”

“It’s enough. You’ve distracted me every other time.”

With a smirk he nodded and unclasped his cufflinks. “My lady’s wish is my command.” He allowed the accessories to drop on the nearby table. The heavy thunk echoed her pounding pulse.

Trisha moistened dry lips, her breath hitching at each button he loosened. His eyes never wavered from hers. He eased the garment from his shoulders and let it drop to the floor, revealing his sleeveless shirt beneath.

She’d seen stripteases before, but none affected her like this one.  The muscles of his biceps flexed when his hands went to the front of his slacks. He unbuckled his belt and undid the clasp, before yanking his t-shirt free of the waistband. He grasped the ends of his shirt and slowly lifted the cotton. With each inch of smooth chocolate skin revealed, desire throbbed anew. He discarded the shirt. She sucked in a breath and feasted upon the hard lines of his torso and abs.

Desire crackled with each beat of her heart. She stepped closer. The tattoo was incredibly detailed, each scale on the design seemed to have a luminosity that seemed to ripple and glow with each breath he drew. The image must have taken hours to render.

“You take my breath away, baby girl.”

She met his gaze. “I do?” Surprise colored her voice.

“No woman has ever looked at me like that before.” He smoothed a hand over her hair.

“Like what?”

“Like you want to devour me.”

Heat tinged her cheeks. Could he really read all that in her eyes? With shaking fingers she pushed her hair from her face.

“And what if I do?” she challenged.

“I’m yours.” He held up a hand and crooked a finger. She lifted her hand and swept her fingertips along the outline of his chest. He trembled at her touch.

If she could have a night to trace the tattoo inked into his skin, it still wouldn’t be long enough. She lost herself in the texture of his skin. Fine hairs teased her fingers as she drifted them down his chest to the top of his abs.

Somehow she resisted the urge to explore all those delicious muscles or kiss the narrow patch of hair on his washboard stomach and focused on her task. She wanted to find how far the ink went.
